Are you sick of diets that tell you what NOT to eat? Do you feel overwhelmed by food rules? Are you trying to eat healthier, but get confused about what to eat and avoid?
I'll let you in on a little secret...there are NO food rules you have to follow to get fit and healthy.
Every person's body and lifestyle are unique, you just have to learn what works for your body and block out the noise.
I created this delicious berry chocolate smoothie while completing a Whole 30 detox. Whole 30 does not approve of eating smoothies, but for my body and lifestyle smoothies are allowed. I made this smoothie with all Whole 30 approved ingredients, to make Whole 30 work for me.
Do you like candy bars? You are in luck! This smoothie tastes just like a candy bar, but instead of sugar, it is filled with superfoods. Also, hidden inside this treat are 3 servings of veggies, but I promise this smoothie is so rich and chocolatey that you would never know!
Berry Chocolate Smoothie:
1 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flaxseed (optional)
2 tablespoon cacao powder
1 scoop Vital Proteins Dark Chocolate Blackberry Peptides or your favorite chocolate protein powder
1-2 tablespoons almond butter
1 cup frozen mixed berries (I use an antioxidant berry blend from Costco or BJ's)
1/2 cup frozen beets (I roast them then freeze them in stasher bags)
1/2 cup frozen zucchini (optional)
1/2 cup frozen baby spinach
1 tablespoon cacao nibs for topping (can substitute mini chocolate chips)
Add ingredients to a blender in the order listed and blend till smooth and creamy. This smoothie is THICK, so I often need to add more liquid to get it moving. Add water or milk as needed. Also, you can pause and stir with a spoon to get moving. Top smoothie with cacao nibs or mini chocolate chips.
This smoothie hides 3 servings of colorful veggies to make eating vegetables easy. Even better, this healthy smoothie is a rich pink color so no one will even guess there are veggies hidden inside.
The berry chocolate smoothie tastes just like a chocolate candy bar. The smoothie is so rich and creamy it will satisfy any sweet tooth. Unlike a candy bar, this superfood smoothie will fill you up with no crash afterward.
